Born in Topeka, Kansas, Dr. Sheehan received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Washburn University. She received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed a three-year Internal Medicine internship and residency at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She held a clinical instructor position at Michigan State University during her residency. Dr. Sheehan returned to the Kansas City area in 1990 for a three-year fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Docent at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine from 1993 through 1998. She remains actively involved instructing medical students, residents and fellows as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine and as a preceptor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Sheehan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Kansas City Community Oncology Program. Dr. Sheehan’s areas of professional interest include breast cancer treatment and prevention and hematologic malignancies.
