Dr. Thompson earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at Texas Tech University. Following, he earned his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Thompson came to Kansas City to the University of Kansas Medical Center where he completed his residency in radiation oncology in 2000. His residency focus included: Stereotactic Radiosurgery, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy, Interstitial Brachytherapy, and Transperineal Prostatic Brachytherapy. Other highlights of his residency included six months spent at the Seattle Prostate Institute with Dr. John Blasko. Dr. Thompson joined Kansas City Cancer Center East as a Radiation Oncologist in June 2002. Dr. Thompson is board certified in radiation oncology. His professional interests include Prostatic Brachytherapy (prostate seeds). He is a member of ASTRO (American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology).
