Change can be a good thing. Such is the case for Teresa Hoffmann, whose career change eventually brought her to Kansas City Cancer Center. Hoffmann, who is located in KCCC’s South office, is a board certified family nurse practitioner. Yet, she didn’t initially pursue nursing in her undergraduate years at the University of Missouri, where Hoffmann earned a degree in psychology and chemistry. The native Kansas Citian eventually returned to school, and completed her BSN at Research College of Nursing in 1996. Upon joining the nursing profession, Hoffmann worked in hematology and oncology at the Kansas City Veteran’s Administration for eight years, while pursuing her Masters in Nursing from Research College of Nursing in Kansas City. After earning her Masters degree in 2002, Hoffmann joined The University of Kansas Medical Center as an inpatient nurse practitioner in its hematology and oncology department. There, Hoffmann was involved with KU’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Hematology and oncology have been her primary focus for the last 11 years. Hoffmann has achieved national certification as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and is licensed in Missouri and Kansas. Likewise, she is a certified chemotherapy and biotherapy provider. Hoffmann is a member of the national Oncology Nursing Society and its Kansas City chapter, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Kansas City Heartland Nurse Practitioner Network. Hoffmann is married and has two sons and multiple pets. In her spare time, she enjoys laughing, cooking, traveling and walks.
