Sue Ellen Breese began her nursing career in 2000 working as a medical/surgical and oncology staff nurse at North Kansas City Hospital. She worked there two years before joining Kansas City Cancer Center (KCCC) in 2002. She thought about returning to school at times during the next four years, but after a medical mission trip to help victims of the 2005 Pacific Rim tsunami she made the firm decision to return to school full-time to become a nurse practitioner. Sue Ellen had seen first-hand how short life can be and she felt encouraged and called to take this next challenging step. She earned an Everett Troost scholarship and completed a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in December 2007 and immediately returned to KCCC. Sue Ellen is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and Sigma Theta Tau International. She has a strong passion for the field of oncology where she can have an emotional and spiritual connection with patients. Sue Ellen enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking medical mission trips, remaining active in her local church community, playing golf, running, traveling and scrapbooking.
